“My father inspired me to be passionate about wine and excel at what I do. He taught me to seek the best and learn from the best.

As a young winemaker, I traveled to the top wine regions of the world and spent time with great winemakers such as Henri Jayer in Vosne-Romanée and Lucien Sionneau at Mouton Rothschild.

It was an awakening.

I understood at a much deeper level the importance of terroir — that wine is a unique expression of the land and the people who care for it — that great wine, in essence, is grown.

Today, after thirty years of listening, learning and innovating, I am still deeply committed to this philosophy, which is why our historic To Kalon Vineyard is so important to us.

Our old vines are a reflection of the land. They have taught us important lessons — how to gently care for them and honor the fruit they give us. This knowledge results in wines with depth of character, balance and complexity — wines that bring grace to our tables and zest to our lives.

We’re making wines of which I am immensely proud, and with each vintage, we continue to evolve. Our feet are in the soil and our heads are in the stars.”
